| Carlisle Primary School is located 8 kilometres east of the Perth CBD at the intersection of Orrong Road and Wright Street. Although the environment outside the school is very busy, Carlisle offers quiet and peaceful surroundings with many large trees, shady verandahs and two grassed playing fields for sporting activities. Our present school population of 285 students from kindergarten to year 7 has a wonderfully diverse multi cultural mix. All students take part in learning programs, which enable students to develop an understanding and appreciation of different cultural groups. At Carlisle Primary School great importance is placed on providing opportunities for students to develop knowledge, skills and attitudes to contribute successfully to a rapidly changing society. We have a positive reputation for being inclusive of all members of the school community through our quality teaching and learning programs, behaviour management processes, our pastoral care and parent/carer partnerships. Teaching and learning programs cover all eight learning areas, with a particular focus on the core areas of literacy and numeracy. The students also participate in visual arts,l ibrary music, physical education and Japanese programs. The integration of ICT into the learning and teaching program is a priority at our school and 90a0of our staff members are involved in action research in this area. Our school structure is organised into learning teams, where teachers collaboratively plan the teaching and learning program to ensure that every child's learning needs are met, academically, socially and emotionally. Carlisle has a commitment to assisting students to develop their understanding of the Curriculum Framework's Core Shared Values and a whole school approach has been adopted. Our student leadership program, through the elected Councillors and the Peer Mediation program offered to all year seven students, is a living example of the development of the values of social and civic responsibility. The parent/carer community work in partnerships with the school through the School Council, P&C and the Aboriginal Parent/Carer Task Force Group. All parents/carers are welcomed and valued by the school and form a strong link in enabling student success. We have strong partnerships with the local community, especially the Belmont City Council, neighbouring schools and community youth services. We also have a partnership with the Smile International Japanese School, with many opportunities for cultural exchange during the year. | ||||
