| Overview Camboon Primary School opened in 1971 in the Perth suburb of Noranda. The current organisation consists of two Kindergarten classes, two Pre-primary classes and 10 classes of Year 1 to 7 students. The school has a total enrolment of around 350 pupils, many (37 live outside what was once our catchment area. We are a 'Class 5' school with two Deputy Principals and two Level 3 Teachers. The school grounds are large, well kept and provide a range of passive and active areas for students' recreation. They are properly fenced and are safe and secure. Other special learning opportunities include: Specialist English as a Second Language (ESL.) support for children from a non English speaking background; Information Technology in our dedicated computer room; Italian language tuition for Years 3 to 7; Specialist Physical Education for Years 1 to 7. This includes annual 'faction' carnivals for long distance running, athletics and swimming; Specialist library sessions for years Pre Primary to Year 7; Instrumental music tuition for selected Year 6 and 7 students; Singing in the school choir; Dancing lessons for Pre-primary to Year 7 classes; Challenge and enrichment classes for selected Year 1 to Year 7 students; Student involvement in our nature strip revegetation project. We also have representative school teams for athletics including cross country, basketball, netball and Australian Rules football. Parental involvement at Camboon is critical to our success. It is formalised in our very active Parents and Citizens? Association (P&C) and School Council. The P&C runs a five star accredited canteen that sells healthy snacks and lunches each day. More specific information is contained in our handbooks that are available on request. Camboon Primary School is proud of its reputation as a school with high academic standards, being an excellent and very successful competitor in interschool sports and having highly effective pastoral care and student management procedures imbedded in its operation.
