| The purpose of Cable Beach Primary School is to enable our students to develop the skills and attitudes, relevant to individual needs that will ensure they become respected worthwhile members of society. Cable Beach Primary has a culturally diverse student and staff population. We pride ourselves in the ability to work collaboratively and to follow the principles of inclusivity. We provide a range of programs to cater for this diversity including a Music Specialist who works with two Bands, two choirs, an instrumental music program as well as a songwriting program. We have a GiR Literacy teacher, an Aboriginal Education Specialist Teacher and four AIEOs who work throughout the school. We have accessed additional support for literacy development through the ATAS program, ILSS and NIELENS funding. We endeavour to support our students with disabilities and special needs through extensive consultation with all stakeholders. Our LOTE program includes Indonesian and Yawuru which is one of the Aboriginal languages of the area. This is taught in years 4 to 7 with the help of an Aboriginal Elder. We have two Level 3 teachers, one who received a Westfield Scholarship in 2004. One of our Aboriginal Teachers received the award as the Inaugural Outstanding Aboriginal Teacher 2004. Our Indigenous staff have been involved in the Capacity Building Project, and one staff member went interstate to present her work at the National Indigenous Conference. Five of our year 7 students of 2004, were awarded scholarships to Perth schools in 2005. We have a State Junior Motorcross champion and a State Champion swimmer. During 2004, six ex students represented WA in different State teams, including one student who has won an AFL scholarship. There is a high level of achievement in athletics, team games (football, cricket, netball) and swimming. CBPS has an active P & C, ASSPA group and an Aboriginal Advisory Group. The school has a purpose built Library, Music and Art rooms and is set in lush tropical gardens, close to the famous Cable Beach. The school has strong community links and prides itself on maintaining excellent relationships with all past and present students, parents and community members. | ||||
