Boyare Primary School was opened in 1991 and is located in the suburb of Mirrabooka, which is approximately 14 kms north east of the Perth CBD. Mirrabooka is an Aboriginal word, which describes the constellation of the Southern Cross.

There are over 30 different language groups identified within the school's student population. English, Vietnamese, Arabic and Macedonian are the other three major languages spoken.

The school's catchment area consists of newer homes, occupied by people of low/middle incomes, with some Homeswest housing. The teaching staff profile consists mainly of very experienced teachers. The school has strong historical links with Aboriginal Australia (eg. 'Boyare' means 'a ridge' in one of the local languages), reflected in faction names ie. 'Warrigal', Biddie', 'Marloo' and 'Yarradah'. Parental support and Behaviour Management in Schools are strong features of Boyare's educational program.

The school has a major emphasis on Information and Learning Technology and has been highly commended on achievements in this area in past years at the Swan Education District Level. In 2006 the school participated in the Learning with ICT (LWICT) program which resulted in a major upgrade of the ICT infastructure, hardware, software and teacher pedagogy.The school has a range of specialist teachers with programs that are relevant and in line with current curriculum initiatives. These include Physical Education, Visual Arts, Science Education, Languages other Than English (Italian) and ICT.
