| Boyanup Primary School is situated 20km south of Bunbury within the Shire of Capel. The townsite of Boyanup, has a population of approximately 600 and is a service centre for the surrounding rural area. Mineral sands are mined in the District reflecting the diversity of the local economy. Many people commute to Bunbury and other locations within the district for employment. After recent upgrades, the School is a modern and attractive facility, set in beautifully maintained gardens. The physical environment is further enhanced with abundant playing areas and the Preston River valley at the rear of the School. The School services the Boyanup - Capel - Gwindinup areas. The majority of children come from the Boyanup townsite, while a school bus transports children from the Elgin farm lands. The School population has stabilized at approximately 110 students, accommodated in one Pre Primary Centre and four primary classes. The majority of students attend Bunbury Senior High School after graduation from Boyanup. Learning Technology has been a School priority for several years and will continue to be a feature of our learning program. The School has one computer for every 8 students, so regular access by students is available. Development of computer skills continues to be priority for staff and students, as well as the integration of technology into the learning program. The School has a very active and supportive parent group whose involvement includes P & C activities, School Council representation, voluntary assistance in the School Canteen, saleyard kiosk, library, literacy programs, cooking classes, sporting programs and class based activities.
