Overview
Bolgart Primary School is a small government wheatbelt school located an hour and a half north east of Perth in the Midlands Education District. Most students come from agricultural backgrounds from the surrounding area.

We are committed to providing quality education in an inclusive, caring and supportive learning environment. The School has a strong emphasis on developing student skills in literacy and numeracy. We also enjoy the benefits of an informed, supportive and involved community.

Our student population has ranged from 46 to 50 students in 2005. The school has two full-time classes and one part time class. All are multi-age group classes of students across two or more year levels.

A strength of our school is in the high level of parental involvement in all aspects of school life. The P & C Committee is active in supporting the learning program of our students by contributing to School planning and the implementation of these plans.

School Council, in consultation with the community, continues to be a focus group working on long-term planning, reviewing school results and student outcomes in detail and making recommendations as a consequence to be included in school planning for 2006.

Bolgart Primary School offers a wide and varied curriculum designed to meet the learning needs of each child. The curriculum is child-centred and involves children in a collaborative learning environment. Literacy and numeracy continue to be focus areas across the school with resources allocated accordingly.

Programs & Projects for 2006
LANGUAGE OTHER THAN ENGLISH-(LOTE: JAPANESE)
Bolgart Primary School students study Japanese in Years 3 to 7 under the guidance of SIDE Teachers via telematics. The program focuses on developing an appreciation and acceptance of another culture as well an ability to communicate effectively in a language other than English. The Japanese language is also integrated with other learning areas undertaken within the school.
OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY PROGRAMME
Bolgart Primary School students are provided with support and extension work under the guidance of our Therapist, Mrs Jenny Leeming. Mr Bob Furey conducts small group sessions with identified students each week focusing on therapy goals outlined by our visiting OT Professionals.

School Priorities for 2006
School Council and Staff have selected the following areas for treatment as priorities in 2006. Staff and School Council Representatives reviewed the schools achievements in each priority area in October/November 2005.

Numeracy
Values and Self-Esteem
As a result of the school review process the following targets will be the focus of teachers and School Council planning for 2006:
By the end of 2006 WALNA reading results will indicate at least 50% of students are achieving within the 'WA Government School Achievement Target'.

The school 2006 WALNA writing average for Years 3, 5 and 7 will at least meet the average for 'like school cohorts' and results will indicate at least 50% of students are achieving within the 'WA Government School Achievement Target'.

By the end of 2006 WALNA numeracy results indicate a minimum of at least 50% of students to be achieving within the 'WA Government School Achievement Target'.

In all other learning-area testing, 50% of students are achieving average and above results will occur by the end of 2007.
