| Bertram Primary School opened in January 2007 in the Bertram housing subdivision south of Perth. Construction of this new school began in mid 2006 and concluded with the opening of the final suite of buildings in term 2 of 2007. Bertram is a local intake school. Bertram has students from Kindergarten through to year 7. The school will continue with students from K - 6 from 2008. Current enrolment is approximately 270 and growing. Staff at the school have been primarily merit selected in line with the DET policy and the vision and educational needs of the school. A range of expertise in a variety of areas is on offer to students and families who attend the school. Curriculum delivery is in line with current DET initiatives and supported by the resources and ICT infrastructure of a new school. The school has selected an Arts specialist and will offer Japanese as its Language Other Than English. Currently a Physical Education teacher also provides a focussed program offering a variety of skills based programs. The school has elected to focus significant energies on the ever developing area of ICT and teachers, students and parents will have access to the latest equipment in this area. Each Learning Area has a smartboard installed to allow in class access for all. Laptops and desktops have been purchased to ensure that full use is made of the wireless network set up across the school. As a growing school in a growing area the school is working closely with its community to establish solid links in the early stages of its existence in the belief that this will flourish as the school and community develop. Parents and interested community members are invited to contact the school for further information and to facilitate the enrolment process. Enrolments for 2008 are already underway. | ||||
