| (As at first semester 2006) 1. SCHOOL PROFILE 1.1 Staffing Attadale is a Class 5 Primary School and is staffed by 25 experienced teachers. There is an off site four year old centre, which caters for 40 children. There are two preprimary classes, fourteen classes from year 1-7, five classes being staffed with a tandem arrangement. Every teacher on Staff is dedicated in their approach to teaching their class and to working as a member of a team in order to realise the school objectives. Loyalty and teamwork are strong features of this staff. Support teachers work closely with class teachers and are used in areas of need identified by the staff. There is a single gender class, an all boys class in year three. The Principal, two deputies and one level three teacher, make up the administrative team. There are two music specialists, a computer specialist, a phys ed specialist and an Indonesian teacher. There is also an after school guitar program The Resource Centre is a focal point of the school and is managed by a library teacher and library officer. The school is most fortunate with its ancillary and support staff, all of whom are prepared to work beyond the call of duty. The office workload is very efficiently and capably handled by the School Registrar with some assistance. 1.2 Students The present school population indicates increasing school enrolments. 1.3 Social Background The school caters for a wide range of children. The majority of current enrolments comes from a middle to upper socio economic background. Most children have motivated parents who are keen for their children to do well and are prepared to support the teachers and the school policies. 1.4 Physical Resources This is a linear type school of seven classrooms, two pre primary transportables, one other transportable, and a junior open area cluster of six classrooms. The off-site four year old centre is situated in Davis Road. The school has a multi-purpose library resource centre, a computer lab, an undercover activity centre and a large hall which is used for assemblies, music, art displays, physical education, dancing, as well as school and P&C socials. A Bristol demountable serves as music room. The school is endowed with a fenced oval and spacious grounds. Our school gardener keeps our grounds very attractive and functional. 1.5 Community Use Of School Facilities a. External: Outside facilities are used in season by three local sporting communities, cricket, football, Hyperactive sport program and little athletics. b. Hall: The hall is hired out to a drama group one night a week and to a dance group three nights a week The money raised is a welcome addition to P&C funds. A hall hire policy sets out terms and conditions. 1.6 Parent Participation A. Meetings: An active P&C Association meets monthly at the School. At each meeting reports are given by sub-committees including School Development, Canteen, Clothing Pool, Parent Support Group, Pre Primary and Safety House. Guest Speakers are often invited. Sub-committees meet when required. B. Canteen: The P&C Association controls the School Canteen which operates on a three day week basis, Wednesday to Friday. C. Communication: A school Newsletter, Nexus, is sent out fortnightly.D. Parent/School Prospectus: The School Prospectus has been produced and written in close consultation with members of the School Council and is regularly updated. E. Parent Involvement: Parents are encouraged to participate in school activities through school and classroom newsletters, meetings, parent support group, excursions and Parents' Night. Individual class orientation meetings with parents are held by each teacher in Week 2, Term 1. There is an opportunity for parents to meet with teachers following issuing of reports in July and December and at any other time throughout the year as required. The fortnightly school assemblies draw a large number of interested parents. Many of the parents take an active part in educational activities, such as art/craft, library resource centre, excursions and camps, umpiring and coaching. Parents are encouraged to discuss any problem affecting their children's happiness and welfare at the school with the individual Teacher concerned, or with Deputies, Principal, the School Nurse and School Psychologist, . There are procedures in place for following up areas of concern. F. School Council: A School Council meets once a term. There are 6 parents on this Council and one Teacher, plus the Principal. There is also a councillor who is a community representative. The Council has its own constitution. It reviews and endorses the School Development Plan, approves the School Development Budget and receives reports on the evaluation of these plans through the Management Information System in place. The School Council works well in guiding the Principal with realistic expectations of the community.2. RESOURCE ALLOCATION: The allocation of human and financial resources are directly related to the school plan. A budget is prepared at the start of each year and endorsed by the District Education Office. Priority areas which are chosen from careful analysis of school data of the previous year, are addressed in the budget. A budget committee consists of the Principal, Deputy Principal, the Registrar and two teacher representatives. Cost Centre Managers are appointed each year. The School Budget and the School Plan are endorsed by the School Council. | ||||

| Very strong teachers and excellent new principal | too many families trying to come into the school not in the boundary | the school's teachers are excellent, and things have really gotten even better with the new principal, the last one was a bit old fashioned | ||
