Arbor Grove is a new government school located in the northern suburb of Ellenbrook in the Swan Valley.

Originally the school began operations in April 2000 as the Coolamon Annexe attached to Ellenbrook Primary School with an enrolment of 45 students. Following increased enrolments and further constuuction, the school commenced in January 2001 with 123 students.

Due to a rapid and dramatic explosion in the population of the surrounding area of Charlottes Vineyard, a new school, Arbor Grove Primary School was constructed. Operations commenced at this site in April 2004. Students enrolments have continued to grow at a significant rate. The total student enrolment k - 7 currently sits at close to 600 students. Continued development in the Charlottes Vineyard area will likely see futher increases over the next couple of years.

The school has been designed to ensure easy integration of technology into the teaching and learning program. All teaching clusters, the administration block and library are interconnected through fibre optic cable. The internet can be accessed from any point in the school, utilising a radio network installed in each building.

The school has purpose built facilities in art and music education. A recently acquired Commonwealth grant of $150 000 through the Investing in Schools program has enabled the school to install evaporative airconditioning in every teaching block and administration area. In addition, the pupose built undercover area has now been equipped with roller doors. This has provided the school with enhanced opportunities for curriculum delivery and the staging of whole school events and activities.

The student body is drawn from a broad social spectrum with some families residing in their own new homes, some renting and others in government accomodation.

The school is currently focussing on the prioirity areas of Literacy and Numeracy and a range of school-based initiatives have been implemented to enhance the delivery of the curriculum in these areas.

In 2006 the school developed a model of distributed leadership to make the process of School Review more effective. This model has also been extended to incorporate a variety of other contexts within the school.

The P&C Association is a strong and active organisation which has provided ongoing support for the school. The school canteen is also very successful and has received several awards for a proactive approach to the provision of healthy food products.

Overall:

Generally it is a good school with good teachers and good intentions. New and clean with multi purpose ovals and good playground facilities.

My child attended this school in its first three years of opening (as well as 2 yrs at its temporary location of Coolamon whilst waiting for Arbor Grove to be built)before transferring to another school. During that time I found that half the teachers were great and another half average. Luck of the draw. The facilities were average, lack of resources (ie. three yr1 classes but only book resources for two) and  inaffective management on bullying (my child and friends were chased, teased, pushed to the ground, threatened and kicked) and concerns weren't listened to well enough. Know of 2 other students also moved to other schools by their parents as a result of being victims of similar bullying. My childs progress at school was limited and he didn't enjoy his time there.

My experience was fantastic with the Kindy and Pre-Primary teachers. My childs educational development however was well below average in yrs 1-3 and his reports and teachers comments reflected a concern of his abilities however in his new school he has slowly thrived to being selected for the gifted and talented student program. The resources and general teaching 3 yrs ago were generally average and feel the other 2 government schools in Ellenbrook rank higher than this one.
