Allendale Primary School opened in 1952 and is in its 57th year operating from the same location adjacent to North West Coastal Highway, with entrances on Wittenoom and Marsden Streets. 'Strive to Succeed' is inscribed under the school logo and wonderfully summarizes the attitude of the staff and students of Allendale Primary School who have placed particular emphasis on developing Core Values within the school community.

The school currently has 319 students from K to 7 with the students accommodated in across 14 classes. Kindy students attending an off site centre about 500 metres from the school.

The school buildings have been added to since 1952 with the assistance of the P and C and the Department of Education. Some of the improvements include:
* A purpose built art-craft room
* A resource centre, air conditioned by the P & C
* A school hall built by the P & C and Community
* An air conditioned maths-computing room built by the P & C
* A dental therapy clinic
* Construction of an under-cover area adjacent to the canteen
* Upgrade of toilets and provision of disabled toilet
* Completion of library automation
* Computer cabling and networking of all teaching areas

THE SCHOOL COMMUNITY
The majority of students come from the surrounding Wonthella area with second generation students continuing the family's Allendale School tradition. Families are from wide cross section of socio economic backgrounds, predominantly from homes where education is valued and supported. The P & C contribute toward school facilities and operates the canteen, uniform shop and other fund raising ventures.
Parents are welcome to attend the weekly assemblies and assisting in classrooms and many take the opportunity to support their children.
The school follows Departmental policies and guidelines when considering applications for enrolment and further information can be obtained from the school in relation to eligibility for enrolment at Allendale Primary.

STAFFING
The school's staff is experienced and the majority of staff having been in the school in excess of 7 years providing a sound knowledge base about the school's operation and students. Promotional positions in the school are Principal and two Deputy Principals. In addition to the 19 teaching staff there are 13 other positions, comprising Teacher Assistants, Education Support Assistants, an AIEO, Library Officer, Registrar, Office Assistant and Gardener. Along with other Geraldton schools Allendale has a Getting It Right Literacy and Numeracy specialist funded by the Department to support student and staff development. Allendale Primary is involved in a district Behaviour Management Plan allowing staff access to specialist Professional Development. Staff have recently been involved in Departmental Training in relation to Making Consistent Judgements, Curriculum Improvement Phase 2 and First Steps Reading, Writing and Mathematics along with other Professional Development specific to the needs of the students.

TECHNOLOGY
The school has excellent information technology facilities supported by a computing specialist. A fully equipped computing room is complimented by networking to all teaching areas within the school. This enables full library research access from classrooms as well as internet and email access. Computers are being continually upgraded to assist students with the information technology. In 2006 the school was connected to the 100 Schools Program and this has continued to be developed upon since its inception.

VALUES
The school has been operating a Values program for 7 years and the staff and students are fully aware of the meaning and importance of the Four Key Values Words - Honesty, Courtesy, Respect and Responsibility. The Four Key Values Words are the cornerstone of behaviour and general conduct of the students of Allendale Primary School. These Four Key Value Words have linked into the Australian Government's 'Values for Australian Schooling' initiative' providing a solid foundation for the students to further develop the skills necessary to operate effectively within our school and wider community. The Values program has been a valuable component to the establishment of the current school culture and the staff and students are experiencing the benefits of their efforts.
