EDUCATIONAL FEATURES Albany Primary School is a 'Tribes' school which holds highly key values of mutual respect, the right to participate, the showing of appreciations, producing your personal best and attentive listening. These attributes underpin a cohesive and supportive school environment. The collabortaive learning processes employed in the school are reflected in high levels of student achievement. The school has a strong musical background with music as its specialist area. Since 1976 Year 6 and 7 students have been given the opportunity of performing in high quality musical productions. The biennial shows performed include Joseph & the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, The Hunchback of Nostradamus and in 2004 The Pinafore Pirates. Past students and parents frequently return to assist with these on a voluntary basis. The biennial 'Walkabout' for the Year 6 and 7 students is another notable educational programme aimed at enhancing outdoor education and social interaction skills. This event, originating in 1980, involves a week long walk and camping experience along the Bibbulumun Track between Walpole and Denmark. One of the priorities this year will be to enhance the use of Information Communication and Technology (ICT) by teaching staff in their delivery of teaching and learning programmes. An ICT coordinator has been appointed to facilitate this process over the next two years. | ||||
