| At Oakwood Park Primary School, we encourage our students to develop academic and social skills, and we also aim to nurture the development of good citizenship. We teach our students to show respect for themselves, other people and the school as a whole. The school oath aims to consolidate this message. “At Oakwood Park we respect one another, Put effort into everything we do, Protect and care for our property, And always be fair and honest.” The school has a unique literacy programme which began in mid 2004. Since its inception the programme has lifted the reading standards to and above state levels. In 2006 and 2007 the school was awarded a “National Literacy Award” in recognition of the School’s achievement in raising the reading levels and maintaining them. The programme involves all children in grades Prep, 1 and 2. Groups consist of half a grade at a time, taken by 2 literacy aides to the Literacy Room for an hour at least twice a week. The other half of the grade works with the classroom teacher on a literacy programme. It provides intensive literacy instruction to groups of approximately 10 children. The programme is based on enhancing reading, writing and spelling skills and often involves craft based activities. Each child’s reading progress is regularly monitored at their reading recovery levels. | ||||

| The students are happy, my daughter loves going. She is learning at a higher level and doing really well. The teachers are great. They really make it easy for the students to learn and have fun while learning. Class sizes are great. Everyone loves this school. | No access for children in wheelchairs. | We love this school, the school gives out a great vibe. The students are all well mannered and happy. The teachers will actually take time and listen to you as a parent. The fees are not high. | ||

| happy environment, great teachers small class sizes high standards of learning no child left behind Fees are really good | bad things , what bad things. More sports would be great. | My child has achieved a great deal here and I would recommend this school to other parents in the area. We even have students who come from other areas because of high standards of learning at this school. | ||

| The school was and is always community based. Past Teachers, Students and Parents are very passionate about Oakwood Park PS. Facilities are as good as any other school! | The merger with Yarraman! Seriously - whoever made the final decision didn't think it through! Yarraman is a complete DUMP compared to Oakwood and Yarraman doesn't have that community comfort like Oakwood Park Primary School. | I wish Oakwood was here to stay, but unfortunately not so......sorry to past Teachers, Parents and Students who didn't get a chance to say good bye! | ||

| nice family feel - a nice school but no future - caught up by bureaucracy | merging with Yarraman was the worst idea ever - I cannot see any advantages in the move for our school but lots of disadvantages | has had a great past but has a bleak future | ||
