Ulan Public School is a small, isolated school adjacent to the Ulan coal mine drawing its enrolment from a small village and surrounding rural blocks. It provides a comfortable learning environment with adequate buildings, large playground and substantial learning resources. The recent computer cabling of the school has allowed for easier access to programs and files as well as providing easier maintenance and administration of technology within the school. Being part of both the Disadvantaged Schools Program and the Country Area Program has allowed our school to provide extra programs to assist learning in a number of areas such as literacy, music and Indonesian.
