Tanja Public School is a small country school which forms a focus for the local community. Teachers and students work in a family atmosphere where there is close co-operation and a sense of support, flexibility and informality. The school is characterised by sound levels of achievement, motivated learners and close support from the community. Our curriculum provides opportunities for students to work with peers of various ages and to investigate the local environment in our National Parks and State Forests. Staff members place an emphasis on learning as a lifelong activity. Traditional and progressive learning strategies are used and great value is placed on the sense of partnership between home and school. The focus of school life at Tanja is to help all children develop their thinking, physical, artistic and social skills and, where possible, to use student ideas in the process.
