Smithtown Public School is a small, rural school which is located on the banks of the Macleay River. The village of Smithtown has a population of approximately 1000. It has a Nestle factory and is surrounded by grazing and a declining number of dairy properties. Our School's mission statement gives a clear statement of school purpose. 'Our school aims to develop students who feel good about themselves and are able to cope with their environment.' Our school is committed to producing students who are excellent in basic skills, understand the use of technology and are able to express themselves through the arts. The school motto "Ever Onward" is promoted within the school and the community.
