Since its inception as a National School in 1850, Smithfield Public School has evolved into a progressive educational institution catering for the needs of a diverse community. The school boasts spacious shaded grounds, comfortable classrooms, a school hall, well equipped library and expanding technology resources. There are 19 mainstream classes, a class for gifted and talented students and 5 classes for students with intellectual disability including an Early Intervention Program. The school hosts a class for students with autism. A pre-school is also attached to the school. Before and after school care is available to the community.
