| Situated in the Hills District, north west of Parramatta, Samuel Gilbert Public School is readily accessed from Castle Hill. Samuel Gilbert Public School's vision is "to teach our students to become independent and responsible learners through an emphasis on teaching them to master the tools for learning in a caring and interesting learning environment". Students at this school are provided with numerous opportunities to extend themselves through leadership responsibilities, in the sporting arena and in the creative arts areas. Teachers use lunch-time and before school sessions to offer extra curricula activities such as: Picnics, Vocal Ensembles, Volunteer Program Band, Team training, Organised lunch-time games, End of year Talent Quest, Carols Night, and Gardaroos. The school has excellent resources and is located in modern buildings in a treeland setting. Surveys of parents in 2000 indicated that they value the way the school:

| Great school environment. Dedicated and caring staff. Bushland setting. Great facilities: Library, Computer room as well as computers in classrooms, Interactive Whiteboards. Very supportive parents and P&C committee. Great school website, kept up to date. | Few bad things. Some stairs in the grounds but most places but not all have ramp access for wheelchairs etc. | Children enjoy a happy, caring environment and excellent tuition. | ||
