Our school is situated in Macksville, which is a North Coast town on the banks of the Nambucca River, 12 kilometres from the mouth. Macksville has a population of 4000 and is the political centre of the Nambucca Shire. The town has a declining commercial centre, hospital and high school. The town offers extensive sporting facilities and access to nearby coastal resorts. Our school was established in 1875 and some of the original buildings (on the current site), still in use, are of historical significance. The school's mission statement was developed by staff and parents and states that: 'At Macksville Primary School we strive for excellence and the acceptance of responsibility by the provision of a happy, secure, attractive and caring environment for the school.'
