Kelso Public School has a long and proud history as the longest established school in Bathurst. It is physically attractive: an interesting, circular design around a central, leafy, grassed courtyard valued by the community, open plan classrooms, special built-in additional learning spaces, three tiered audiovisual rooms, a large open plan library with amphitheatre, two large playing fields. It is staffed by experienced, committed people and has the advantage of being able to provide for students from socially and economically diverse backgrounds coming from established homes, rural holdings, low cost housing, and newly developing estates. It is engaged in a healthy process of change and consultation to meet the community's needs and desires for its children. The Priority Schools Program in 2001 will mean additional resources.
