Islington Public School is a small school (P5) located in the inner city area of Newcastle. It is part of a learning community where staff are committed to ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment for all students. The school aims to focus on literacy and numeracy within a structured and collaborative environment. School and parents work together to identify ways in which parents can support children's literacy learning. Integration of students with special needs is a strong feature of Islington's commitment to Education for all students. The school also hosts a district intensive reading class which caters for eight students from other schools.
