| Hinton Public School is situated 10 kilometres east of Maitland at the junction of the Paterson and Hunter Rivers. The school is the second oldest in the state, last year celebrating its Sesquicentenary. The school site itself is a mixture of new and old buildings. Three of the buildings are heritage listed. In recent times additional buildings have been added to the site with a new infants' block and three air conditioned demountable classrooms. The school draws its students mainly from the Hinton/Wallalong village areas of Port Stephens Shire. The school motto states that 'Every Little One Counts'. So we believe in having a caring, safe environment where students feel happy and confident about themselves and others. We believe each child should receive appropriate recognition for effort and have opportunities to reach their full potential. As a consequence we believe that the students should participate in, and be challenged by, a balanced sequential curriculum appropriate to their stage of development. | ||||
