Heaton Public School has a unique location, sharing a campus with Jesmond University High School. Student Welfare and the basic skills of literacy and numeracy are the school's core business. In December 1999 the school suffered from a devastating arson attack which destroyed the main classroom block. The staff has worked tirelessly to restore the school in demountable accommodation.
