| Gorokan P.S. is situated in the Wyong Shire. The school is on the Disadvantaged Schools Program, which provides a valuable source of funding for the school's literacy program. The school has strong ties with its community. In 1990, the school was awarded the Director General's Award for Community Participation. The Parents and Citizens' Association, School Council, canteen committee and uniform group are all actively involved in providing advice and support to the school. A unique feature of the school is its literacy program. Its success can be attributed to the strategic support offered to students by teachers, support teachers and dozens of parent tutors. Parents support learners in the classroom, learning support programs and phonemic awareness programs. The Learning Support Team provides vital support to parents, teachers and students. It has been instrumental in guiding the learning programs of our students. | ||||
