| Frederickton Public School serves the growing township of Frederickton (pop. 1300), and the surrounding rural area on the Mid-North Coast of New South Wales. The current school enrolment of 161 is drawn from both the town and surrounding rural areas. Being a town split by the Pacific Highway students utilise the bus service to increase safety when travelling to and from school. The school opened in 1877. The main building was built in 1880, and is to a distinctive design by reknown 19th Century architect, John Horberry Hunt. The buildings were listed by the Australian Heritage Commission in 1978. A new hall, eight classroms and Staff building were constructed in 2004. Frederickton Public School aims to equip students with the knowledge, understanding, skills, strategies and values that will empower them to live and learn effectively in society, now and in the future. Emphasis is placed on the basic skills in numeracy and literacy, and the use of technology. Resources at the school are continually being developed to meet the growing needs of our students. Ground resources include a large playing field, extensive shade areas, a gross motor playground, outdoor learning centre, greenhouse, native garden maze and seed collection area, Aboriginal food garden and town cenotaph. | ||||
