Elands Public School is a small school serving a diverse, isolated, rural community on the Bulga Plateau. The nature of the road means that the relative isolation is greater than the distance suggests. There is a historic tradition of community involvement in the day-to-day operation of the school. The school's motto, "Learning to Live", reflects the child-centred nature of the school and its community. The school seeks to provide each student with an individual program of learning which will enhance their intellectual, social, physical, emotional and spiritual development. There is a strong commitment to developing mastery of the basic literacy and numeracy skills, as well as emphasis on the personal and expressive skills. As it is a focus of community involvement, the school endeavours to reflect, complement and extend the aspirations of the community for its children.
