Verdict - below average rating.

Compare with all other primary schools.
Cammeray Public School is situated in an expanding residential area, close to the CBD of Sydney. In recent years, this attractive and convenient location has led to an influx of young families. The increase in medium density housing available has also had a significant impact on school enrolments. These factors have placed increasing demands on our accommodation, resulting in a government initiative for the construction of ten new classrooms and the conversion of some older classrooms into an administration area. This work is in its preliminary stages at present and is expected to be completed within two years. The expansive playing fields, including a tennis court, soccer field, cricket nets, environmental wetland; and senior and junior playgym equipment, provide a unique setting for a school so close to the city.

Overall:
Strong teaching in years K-3.Less emphasis on years 4-6. Too many resources aimed at "gifted and talented" programmes to the detriment of those children who are "average". Lack of grounds in a school that has grown astronomically over the last 10 years. Despite running an anti-bullying programme, the lack of grounds and the poor staffing of the playground leads to many incidents.A good school for those early years but an increasing number of parents are seeking to pull their children out from Year 4 onwards due to a dissatisfaction with the quality of teaching and resources allocated to these year groups. The school achieves excellent basic skills results but this is due more to the demographics of the area than the teaching ability. Neutral Bay is a better option.

Great sense of community, lovely children and parents, some exceptional teachers (and some less experienced as per any state school.) Environmentally aware - in recent years have added a herb spiral and vege garden to their lovely wetlands area. Fantastic band program (4 bands).Over the past seven years I have seen the playground space decrease due to increased population of young families in the area and therefore increased demand for local places. State Government needs to act and re-open Naremburn and other schools that were very short-sightedly closed some years back now. (Not the fault of the school who does the best it can in the circumstances)Great school - my oldest son has been VERY happy there for the past 7 years and has a great group of friends. His year 5 teacher was exceptional (gave very helpful and detailed feedback on all class work & assignments, highly motivated - and very popular with all the kids) and the year 6 teaching team in 2011 is very cohesive and instigating some wonderful projects that will stand the kids in really good stead when they go to high school next year. VERY happy! My son has been luckier than the person above and experienced minimal bullying.
