Banksmeadow Public School is a small Pre-School to Year 6 school with an IO Support Class. It was established in 1881 and is situated in Botany, where factories and industrial complexes are rapidly being replaced by modern housing developments. The school has extensive grounds which include a protected heritage area of rare acacia scrubland. - The teachers develop innovative and interesting teaching and learning class programs. We are involved in many new projects and won the Director General's Award for excellence in Public Education in 2002.
- Our sporting teams display flair on the playing fields with a number of our teams winning their premierships in the local school's PSSA sports competitions. Many students have also represented district teams in various sports.
- We have a very successful Performing Arts program. Our students sing in a mass choir at the Sydney Opera House and our dance groups perform at the Seymour Centre, Fox Studios, Eastgardens Shopping Centre, Souths Juniors and the Schools Spectacular at the Entertainment Centre.
- We have a very supportive parent body and a true community spirit in the school. This community spirit helped us win the Westfields' Computers for Schools competition in 2002 and our parents are involved in many other aspects of school life.
